You MUST be a participating member of your high school band and remain a member for the 2019 – 2020 school year. There may be exceptions for IB students. However, these students must be playing their instruments frequently to maintain and improve their skills.
Who should audition?
Due to the very heavy rehearsal and performance schedule, only students who are able to make a serious commitment to the band are asked to audition.

We may be the band for you!
Studio “A” Jazz Band is an auditioned group of approximately 24 young musicians from grades 10 – 12. We meet once a week for a 2 hour rehearsal on Thursday evenings from 5:30 pm both days
Our program is very active and busy and we require musicians who are dedicated and enthusiastic for our fall season.
What are the benefits? The many benefits include playing a wide variety of Jazz music with other accomplished high school musicians, and making new friends with musicians from around the city. Playing at a wide variety of venues including Music festivals, entertaining at a number of Halifax conventions, fund -raisers at Dave Doolitte’s and Monty’s Bar and Grill. The band has traveled to Heritage Festivals (most recently in Montreal) and we successfully completed a fantastic trip to Havana Cuba in the spring of 2007. Our band recorded an album. We have also traveled to New York City to compete in the Heritage Festival. We auditioned and played at Disney in 2011. There are many exciting opportunities with all of our HRAME programming.
