We offer string classes for Violin and cello for students, both start in grade 4 and continue until grade 12. In grade 7 we offer violas and bass classes for those who would like to try something new. Orchestras start for those in grade 7 if they wish. When they reach intermediate and Senior Orchestra theory is offer and students are able to take it as a credit in High School, (one for grade 10, 11 and 12) that will appear on their transcript.
Junior Orchestra - Gilda Balaban Junior Orchestra performs on Tuesdays from 5:45-7:00pm is for grade 7 students who are participating in string classes. We have many events throughout the year to improve our playing abilities. This Orchestra helps students get a feeling for what playing in a larger group of students with different string instruments is like.
Intermediate Orchestra - Ashley Yoon Intermediate Orchestra performs on Mondays from 6:00-8:00pm for grade 8 and 9 students who are participating in string classes. Is a continuation of the Junior Orchestra, with more challenging music.
Senior Orchestra - Ashley Yoon Senior Orchestra performs on Wednesdays from 6:15-8:15pm for grades 10-12 students who are participating in string classes. We play a variety of different pieces, anything from "Frozen" to "Bach".
String Band - Sue Ellen Wilder String Band is an auditioned group performing on Thursdays from 5:30-6:30. We are a string group exploring alternative styles of music (like rock, pop, bluegrass, jazz folk, mariachi) for student to complement, but not compete with, their lessons, age-level orchestra and ensemble. String students in their third year of lessons up through Grade 12 are welcome to audition.
Senior String Ensemble - Ashley Yoon Senior String Ensemble is a group by invitation only performing on Wednesdays from 5:00-6:00pm for students in grades 10-12; these students are looking for another challenge and have the privilege to perform at Special Events.
